We’ll begin by sketching out some of the ideas that we want to include for a college campus conceptual design. We’ll use this rough sketch as a road map to refer to as we begin to draw the different elements of our concept.Following this we’ll establish our horizon line and vanish point so we can draw many of the different elements of our concept in perspective. From here we’ll spend several lessons designing and drawing roads, buildings, sidewalks and other visual components that will make up our final piece.By going through this process, you’ll be able to tackle your own landscaping design concepts with more purpose and clarity while having a lot of fun.

Visually presenting a story can be a creative, collaborative, and fun experience.
We’ll begin by discussing the usefulness of creating a storyboard and some elements to aim for
when crafting one. From here we’ll start the process of fleshing out the shots of our own story by
visually nailing down the world in which it’s events take place starting with the establishing
shot.
As we progress forward we’ll learn about how we want to visually present the main character, build
anticipation to the story’s conflict, our character’s motivation, the obstacles they’ll face, and
how to arrive at a resolution. Along the way we’ll also learn about maintaining good compositions
to lead the viewers eye through each shot in addition to making editorial changes to the
arrangement of our shots to improve the progression and flow of our story.
After watching this tutorial you’ll have be able to construct your own story boards with more
creative confidence while having a lot of fun.

In this series of tutorials we are going to create a concept art based on simple 3D model render which we will enhance in Photoshop to a believable, apocalyptic environment. We will use various techniques that will help to achieve coherent results that could also be applied to the creation of matte paintings. We will look at recreating lighting, introduction of damage to the elements of architecture, texturing in Photoshop,suggesting strong atmosphere with emphasis on depth cueing, and finally painting over using graphic tablet.

What you will learn
The overall goal of this project is to learn how to create stylized textures and materials for games. This tutorial will focus on the creation of a vintage sign asset using multiple texturing techniques in Photoshop and ending with a real time version of the sign in game (UDK) with working materials for lights. Using this knowledge, you will be able to create your own assets and understand stylization when it comes to creating textures and establishing identity within game art.

While today’s game systems have made drastic improvements in terms of asset resolution, there are still limits. Sometimes creating texture maps for low resolution assets can be a challenge because less polygonal detail often means more detail that the texture artist has to come up with in their textures. This course goes over the process for painting both diffuse and specular maps for our low polygon game weapon. To start things out, we will dive in and begin to paint a base texture for many of the surfaces on the weapon. Whether it’s a tarnished metal surface or a painted surface, we will learn how to add texture in layers starting at the bottom. From here we’ll continue to add detail to our diffuse texture by painting things like scuffs and scratches followed by dirt. After completing the diffuse, we’ll move on to the specular map where we’ll learn how we can repurpose and modify some of our diffuse layers to map out the specular highlights on our weapon. To wrap things up we’ll learn how to flatten and save our texture maps out of Photoshop. After completing this course, you will have a fully textured game asset that is ready to be brought into your game engine.
